This project aims to create a voice track version, for Youtube, of the long running flash parody series: Chrono Trigger Unglued. I am the official animator and producer of Chrono Trigger Unglued since 2005, beginning with episode 11, although the series actually began back in 2003 by Cryokenetic (even if it didn't first appear on Newgrounds itself until 2004). Our current goal is to eventually voice all 22 existant episodes, as well as future episodes. This is not a wacky voice dub, much of the acting required will need to be straight face acting (that isn't to say there's no emotion, but this universe is not self aware of its parody status unlike some comedy series online right now). It is highly reccomend you watch the series if you intend to participate. I apologize for the low quality of early episodes, it starts to pick up around episode 6. Preferably only people willing to be returning voices should apply. Submissions will be taken as name_character.mp3 to ultrapub@yahoo.com (standard recording settings, do NOT play with them). Speak up loudly and clearly, we do not want any whisperers. The current deadline is set to March 15th. We will be providing official lines to those actually cast, we will be fixing grammatical errors in the old script rather than having you read from the flash file itself (but it's still reccomended you watch it). Just because Cryo didn't care to spellcheck back then doesn't mean we're perform a "dot-dot-dot" style performance of those flubs.

CAST
(For the purposes of the extreme brevity of Episode 1, the casting call will include a character's ENTIRE LINES)
Crono (Every episode so far, except for 16)
Precast: Clovis15
Lucca (Episode 3, 6-9, 14-22)
Precast: Lucca
Also our Video Engineer, be sure to also check out her dub of Magical Starsign on Youtube
Crono's Mom, Gina (Episode 1, 20 and 21)
- Gina is not a psychotic mental case, even if Crono might sometimes make it sound that way, although she does have a mental issue. She carees about her son and is usually very well meaning, but she is constantly forgetting things. Actually, she has pretty much forgotten half the time that she is even forgetting things at all. I guess ignorance is often bliss. Ignore the fact that she threatens to feed Crono to the Damn Cat in Episode 1, characterizations weren't quit set in stone in Cryokenetic's head at the time (the line will be dubbed, but it's not indicative of the character's later appearances).
"Wake up Crono."
"WAKE UP CRONO!"
"WAKE UP OR I AM FEEDING YOU TO THE DAMN CAT!"
"Ah, Leene's Bells make such beautiful music."
"You were so excited about the Millenial fair that you didn't sleep well, did you?"
"By the way, that inventor friend of yours..."
"Uh, you know... Oh dear, I've forgotten her name!"
"That's right, Lucca! Don't forget that she invited you to see her new invention."
"Now here's some money, don't spend it all in one place."
"Run along now, and be back before dinner."
(Yeah, her first appearance almost entirely follows the game's SNES script)
Crono's Cat (Episode 1-3, 10-11, 16, and 21)
- Why Crono's cat one day started talking is something of a great mystery, but he seems to be one particularly foul mouthed feline that doesn't much care for his owner. As evidenced in episode 21, there might be more going on with him than Crono can possibly imagine. I am not entirely sure how I want him to sound, but he is a very angry man. Warning, you will cuss... A LOT... doing this role. Crono's Cat is definitely male.
"Bitch, just get me to Leene's Square so I can go get some fine kitty ass."
"What? Are you deaf AND dumb? Just do it, numb nuts."
ADDENDUM: Since one person got confused, I do not hate Cryo at all. He's a brilliant writer who had a wonderfully twisted way with words that no one could possibly ever match. If I sometimes seem upset with him, its because I almost never see him and that makes it very hard to collaborate with him. Although he stopped writing CTU directly, which will only begin with Episode 24, he's actually still part of the creative team. Furthermore, he's actually written every episode so far (except for Episode 15).

Why talk down about Cyro? I loved the way he did the series before "Ultra Publications" came in. His lines were witty, often reflecting some things most fans thought to themselves. I sorta liked it more than the episodes after he stopped being the sole producer. Chrono Trigger Unglued sort of lost its spark to me after it started being more "What can we put here?" and less "What's something about the game that we can poke fun at?" such as the cat that seemed to be everywhere, and revives. I loved how he brought in the cat who seemed to be everywhere at once and showed us what he could be thinking or just what he's doing.
Chrono Trigger Unglued is a great series still, but it's so off topic at times I feel it's its own series and not really about Chrono Trigger. It took him 10 Episodes to get to the Jail arc, and injected so much humor into it (The Trial was priceless), but now we're at episode around 23 and only now escaping? With about 4 episodes with nothing to do with Chrono Trigger and half of the time on something completely off topic. Lucca being late can be true if you're escaping yourself so it can be linked to the plot, but I other things like Lucca's Dad and Chrono's Mom's adventure episode had any relevence.
I think the little additions that were thrown in like Voices, and Drawing animations added some little sparks but I don't know if voicing every episode will give the same humor as reading. As there some some things that only fans can see that voicing might miss.
I'm not bashing Chrono Trigger Unglued, I just wanted to put my thoughts on what you were saying about Cryo and such. Your post came off as more of an ego-booster for yourself, and putting down the old animator. Cryo did amazing things that I don't think we'll ever see anymore. While "Sprited Together" I didn't particularly like, I did like the explanation to why Fritz was in jail.
Both producers of CTU have their own unique touches, you should understand fans are split about the new management. Apologies if I'm coming off as rude, I thought since I haven't reviewed CTU in a loooong time i'd put my thoughts down here since I have the chance.
I am looking forward to future episodes and to see how you play out the team finding Robo, so keep up the work! (I'd love to have that Marle Caramell as an Avatar one day! XD I'd love if you could somehow post it!)
Thanks for your time,
Matt
Clovis15 (Updated )
The fact of the matter is, Cryo has written every episode since day 1 except for Episode 15 (his official retirement from writing will begin with Episode 24).
While I did change some things by adding more animation and production values, he was the ultimate arbiter of everything and had already written 11 through 14 before I took over as animator. I think he is a wonderful writer, and I never would have cared to keep CTU going if I didn't love his work. However, shortly after I came on board, he began dissapearing for long stretches regularly. The only reason I wrote 15 to begin with was because no one had seen him in a long time and we had at first thought he was dead.
Also, Cryo was the one who moved to stopped doing jokes that were based off using the exact dialogue of the games. In Episode 18 there was originally to be a joke about the fact that Marle told the guards to leave Lucca and Crono alone, but specifically said "This is my friend". Note the singular, despite the fact she was referring to two people. Cryo wrote it out of the script during the revision process, and when the rest of us argued that it should be left in he became adamant. Although I changed some things, which is undeniable, Cryo himself was also changing just as I got on board.
Furthermore, Cryo still is part of the creative staff and is regularly making decisions about the future of CTU... when he actually shows up. If I seem frustrated these days, it's just that he doesn't show up at all anymore. I respect his work greatly, and wish he was giving us more help than he is right now.
Also, I will gladly send you those sprites if you give me an e-mail address to send them to.
