Anyone in an uproar over Tom's recent comments probably haven't contributed anything of significance to Newgrounds

I'm not familiar with the comments made by Tom that you're referring to.. But I think I understand.

I feel producing all original content is much more gratifying then using legally sensitive material. The main plus about using music produced by someone within the community is that you're giving them amazing exposure they otherwise might not have recieved. There's really no excuse for using copyright music anymore. There are more then enough talented musicians within the Newgrounds community who are more then willing to get involved with projects.

As for "sprite movies", I'm not keen on them. But there's great pixel tool addons for flash now, so there's no excuse for not creating your own content from scratch.

Just my 2 cents.

I support the watch system idea.

well being the king of the portals isn't an easy task...
i mean the guy pretty much makes sure we don't burn down the place.

so yeah i agree with his protective statement...even though i would like to use other music and credit the artists, we have to swallow are pride and move on.

The sprite movie clarification he made was a slight relief for me, personally, since I'm in the middle of a sprite project right now. I try to raise the bar with every one I make so this just fuels my desire to make each one my best.

And not to make this into a sprite movie discussion, but while I respect the opinion Rubberninja has (as well as several other users). I usually get my inspiration from video games, or video game culture. And while I do have projects where I make my own sprites, using video game sprites, for the majority of my projects at least, makes sense. I don't feel they should be viewed as the author isn't good enough to make his own stuff, but rather a stylistic choice that in some cases can enhance the experience.

Thanks! I know it is rough for someone starting out to do it without all the available stuff on the web (music, sprites, etc.)... But it really is in everyones' best interest to start good habits TODAY and not put it off until tomorrow. I'm hoping we'll be able to tackle a lot of needs with future features, I just know that always takes a lot longer than anyone wants it to.

I had no idea people still cared about sprite movies. They were a fad in the mid-mid late 00's; Now they barely make ripples, let alone waves.

That MasaAndMune guy still seems to be at it though. And Bigfoot is always well received, no matter how long it's been.

And you... seem to be setting yourself up to make this Chrono Trigger parody at least 100 episodes long. Are you out of your mind?! No offense.

Merry Christmas!
